Your music, in every room.

dodast is a local-first media player. It plays the music and videos you already own, finds their artwork, and keeps playback in sync across the devices in your home — without your library ever touching the cloud.

Made for people who keep their own media

No streaming catalogue, no account, no lock-in. dodast is built around the music and video files you have been carrying from device to device for years.

Your files, indexed fast

dodast scans the music and video on your device and builds a clean library of albums, artists, videos, and playlists. Rescans are live and incremental — drop new files in and they simply appear.

Serious playback

Background playback with full media controls — lock screen, headphones, Bluetooth. Close the app mid-song and dodast picks up exactly where you left off, queue and all.

Rooms in sync

Host a listening session and other devices on your Wi-Fi join in seconds — found automatically, or with a QR code. Audio travels straight from your device to theirs, no cloud in between, and every speaker hears the same moment — even when you're playing from a video.

Video, right alongside your music

A dedicated Videos tab with thumbnails and resolution badges, full-screen playback with fit, crop, or stretch, double-tap seeking — and playlists that freely mix video with your tracks.

Artwork that finds itself

Art embedded in your files always comes first, and video thumbnails are generated right on your device. Anything missing is filled in from the Cover Art Archive, with artist portraits from fanart.tv.

Private by design

No account. No ads. No server. dodast never deletes your music or videos — the only change it can ever make to a file is a tag edit you save yourself — and shares audio only device-to-device, in sessions you host. Your library index lives in a database on your device, nowhere else.

One app, every platform

Built with Kotlin and Compose Multiplatform — one shared codebase. Android lands first; iOS is taking shape on the very same foundation.

Local-first means privacy-first

Your library index, playlists, and playback state live on your device, and nothing of yours ever touches a server. Internet traffic is limited to artwork lookups and the diagnostics described — service by service — in the privacy policy; session audio travels directly between your own devices on your network.
